Hiking in Tyrol

Walking and mountaineering in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis:

Hundreds of kilometres of hiking trails through one of the Alps’ most beautiful regions

There are plenty of footpaths in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, and perfect routes for every type of walker. As well as challenging summit trips for ambitious mountaineers, there are also shorter walks with plenty of interest for less athletic hikers. Many footpaths are also suitable for pushchairs!

Lots of gentle, well-signposted trails through forests and meadows satisfy the wanderlust of leisurely walkers. Gorgeous views, mountain reflections in clear mountain lakes, and comfortable hammocks and wellbeing loungers strategically placed in beauty spots offer plenty of opportunities for rest and relaxation. Climb slightly higher and, at up to 2,000m above sea level, leisurely footpaths give way to hiking trails that lead to magical viewing platforms. Take the cable car to the Komperdell midway station in Serfaus and walk along the Panorama Enjoyment Trail to the Möseralm and Ladis. This walk does not feature great differences in altitude, and you get magnificent views of numerous peaks.

There is also a wide choice of hiking trails that lead up to altitudes of almost 3,000m allowing hikers to conquer summits, admire mountain lakes, climb steep slopes along Alpine meadows and fantastic via ferratas. If you prefer your mountain experiences in a group, state-certified mountain and hiking guides organise outings to fabulous destinations throughout June to October.

Whatever excursion you opt for, set off early for an unforgettable sunrise. Walking in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis energises and sharpens all the senses, connects body, mind and spirit, and leaves lasting memories.

  • The Six Senses Experiences Trail in Serfaus: 24 stations with puzzling phenomena and natural spectacles. Oversized spoons serve as seats at the most beautiful lookout places where walkers find rest and relaxation. The three-thousanders always in view, you can walk this pushchair-friendly path to the Möseralm in Fiss and then onwards to Ladis. Stop at the Genusspavillon and relax to the sound of classical music.

  • Schmugglersteig, the smugglers’ trail that leads from Lazid in Serfaus to the Hexensee hut: this slightly more demanding hike takes you hot on the track of the region’s smugglers. Information boards along the way tell the story of the fearless people of Serfaus who wouldn’t let the dangers and adverse conditions of the postwar years stop them from smuggling goods from nearby Samnaun in Switzerland, which were subsequently sold in Innsbruck.

  • Fiss Energy & Senses Trail, rugged rocks, delicate flowers, enchanted trees and mystic lakes: this trail challenges your senses and boosts emotional equilibrium. There are five special rest stops along the way that invite walkers to linger and reflect.

  • Water Trail in Ladis: find inner and outer refreshment at the Tiroler Sauerbrunn, a state-certified mineral and healing spring. The walk leads past rushing brooks, huge wellsprings that seem to boil out of the root system, cascades and ‘droplet’ benches where weary hikers can stop and rest.
